Karibu and welcome to the newest member of the IST Learning Community – Leo Donnal McKillip! Leo was born just after school on Wednesday, 24 February.
Mr. McKillip was able to use Skype to stay connected with family during the event. Technology made being half way around the world seem well, not so far away after all.
Alyssa McKillip (grade 3 teacher) is doing well and happy that everything went as planned. Alyssa and Leo will rejoin us at IST in a few months.
Thank you everyone for your kind thoughts and good wishes.
We are excited to be in grade two because we are bigger than we were in grade one. This year is a little bit harder than last year was. We are already learning a lot in math using number lines. We are becoming fluent readers when we read to ourselves each day. We are learning about the world as we study minibeasts, animals without backbones.
We are having a lot of fun so far this year. We love our big, bright, and fun classroom. We also make sure our classroom stays safe by walking and keeping our chairs pushed in. We work hard to respect our classmates and treat each other the way we want to be treated. We are all good friends and help each other feel better when we are sad or lonely.
We are excited to get our classroom marble jar filled; then we get a surprise! We can’t wait for activities to start. It will be a fantastic year!

We are 2P!
The Crazy, Colourful, Friendly Butterflies!!!
We are very excited and happy to be in Grade 2. We are older, stronger, more sensible and reliable than we were in Grade 1.
We love our new classroom, it is very bright and sunny; we are enjoying the exciting things we have in it. Together we have made class rules that we want to follow all year long.
We are enjoying our first Unit of Inquiry learning about mini-beasts and making habitats for them. We have become expects on butterflies. We are looking forward to our other Units throughout the year.
Our aim for the year is to be caring, helpful and friendly members of the IST community, we want to look out for new people at IST and play with them so they don’t feel alone.
Please come and visit us in 2P.
