Dear Parents and Families,
Who we are is an inquiry into the nature of the self; beliefs and values; personal, physical, mental, social and spiritual health; human relationships including families, friends, communities, and cultures; rights and responsibilities; what it means to be human.
Our central idea is practicing good hygiene, exercise and eating well are important for good physical and mental health.
Three days a week students will participate in various physical activities first thing in the morning. We ask that students wear their PE kits on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday to participate in these unit related activities regardless of when they have PE. The PE kit includes; IST T-shirt, shorts, and trainers. Students may also bring a change of clothes and deodorant if they choose, but this is not mandatory. If your child cannot participate for health reasons, please write a note in the link book, otherwise it is the expectation that students participate.
This unit of inquiry is a wonderful chance for children to take authentic action for the choices they make in foods, and living balanced lives. Be on the lookout for simple changes in the choices of snack items, or drink options- these are just a few examples of authentic action and we as teachers would love to know about them!
Many of you have specialties or interests that we are unaware of so if you are keen on helping out and sharing your knowledge of hygiene, exercise, eating well or the importance of good mental health, please let your classroom teacher know. We always appreciate parents sharing their knowledge.
Thank you for your time and consideration,
Your Grade Two Teaching Team
