Go ‘Bananas’ for Recipes

The Lively Ladybugs have been learning about many different kinds of procedural writing. Lately we have been focusing on recipes. Last week in our table groups we looked at recipe books and created a list of things that all recipes have. Here they are; we’ll list them for you.

1) title

2) serving size (you don’t want to make too much or too little!)

3) ingredients

4) utensils

5) steps to follow-sometimes they are numbered and have pictures. These short steps start with action verbs and are clear, explaining exactly what to do

After we read many recipes it made us hungry so we made peanut butter banana smoothies! Here is the recipe so you can make some at home!

GO BANANAS SMOOTHIES
Number of Servings: 4

  • Peel the banana and slice it with the butter knife.
  • Dump the yogurt, banana slices, peanut butter and ice cubes into the blender
  • Cover and blend on medium speed for about one minute or until smooth.
  • Pour the mixture into four glasses, drizzle honey over the top and serve.
