Grade 2 students love Grammar! We are having so much fun this year learning about and using grammar in our writing. Our writing just keeps getting better and better as we continue to focus on sentences and sentence structure, contractions as well as parts of speech like nouns, verbs, adjectives and now pronouns.
This week we are learning about pronouns. The following explanation of pronouns is from Answers.com:
A pronoun is a word that takes the place of a noun. She, herself, it, and this are examples of pronouns. If we substituted pronouns for the nouns in the sentence “Please give the present to Karen,” it would read “Please give it to her.”
To introduce the concept of pronouns we played the Pronoun Game and we watched Schoolhouse Rock – Pronouns!
You see, a pronoun was made to take the place of a noun,
‘Cause saying all those nouns over and over
Can really wear you down!
